Amtrak's HHP-8 locomotive, seen here northbound at Perryville, Maryland is possibly the most powerful engine in North America. Built by a consortium of France's Alstom and Canada's Bombardier it is known affectionately as Anteaters, Rhinos, Bananas, or Armadillos. HHP-8s are also operated by Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) on this same route. |
