Help save the Texas Eagle

ARKANSAS… NOW IS THE TIME TO SAVE

The Texas Eagle

The Bush Administration has targeted the Texas Eagle as one of the Amtrak trains it would like to discontinue. Amtrak president David Gunn says if Amtrak doesn’t receive full funding, all Amtrak trains will stop running.

The Texas Eagle is a popular route that provides connections for passengers traveling to and from Texas and the Midwest.

Tourism, the elderly, the disabled, the young, college students, and those who simply choose to travel by train benefit from intercity passenger train service.

Please write your elected officials and remind them how important Amtrak service is to you.

Tell your representatives to save this valuable travel alternative.

Since 1980, adjusted for inflation,

Congress has cut Amtrak funding in half

while doubling highway tripling aviation support.

Did you know that Congress will give $30 billion this year to fund highways, about the same amount of money Amtrak has received in its entire

30-year history?
