   Dear Mr. Stirling,

   I refer to your letter regarding the possibility of the no longer required
 Rail Reserve areas in Peterborough to be transferred to Council.

 Unfortunately only three submissions were received on the proposal, which
 was extremely disappointing and is obviously not enough to determine the
 publics opinion on.
    Of the three, one other was like you in being in favour of taking control
 of the area while the other, due to problems with the possible contamination
 of the area and the asbestos in the building, believed very strongly that 
 public ownership should not be pursued.

 Council will be considering this matter further at future meetings but I 
 wish to express my appreciation for the effort you went to in contacting me
 and writing the letter and your attempts via public notices to promote the
 involvement of the whole community.
