NORM Collection
Cleveland Transit System
Cars # 112 & # 201-202

CTS logoThe museum has three of the rapid transit cars built by the St Louis Car Co. for the Cleveland Transit System. Cars 201 and 202 built in 1954 are permanently coupled, sharing some electrical and air equipment. Because of this they are often referred to as a “married pair”. Cars 201-202 were the first cars to run on the system and also participated in the line’s opening ceremonies. Car 112 built in 1955 is a single unit car.

The CTS rapid rail line was coined the Red Line after consolidation into Cleveland’s RTA. All cars are high platform and use overhead for current collection. The Red Line shares some trackage with the former Shaker Heights Rapid Transit (RTA’s Green & Blue lines) which now uses modern LRV's. The few stations that the routes share have both low level and high level platforms.
