Arts and Crafts Contest Rules

The crafts contest is open to anyone who comes to a Northeastern Region Convention. Any kind of article may be entered provided it has been made personally by the entrant. There are no PROXY’s. You must be in attendance.

You have never won a First Place or Best of Show in the Category/Sub-category.
You choose Advanced or you have won a First Place or Best of Show in the Category/Sub-Category.

Kit Built - Has everything enclosed, i.e. diagrams, plans, materials.
Pattern - Has diagrams and plans and explanations of how to construct item. You secure materials.
Original - You design your own plans, patterns or blueprints. You secure your own materials and do all construction yourself.

Same three sub-categories as General, but all entries must have a railroad motif; i.e. a knit sweater with a train on it, a lamp in the shape of an engine or a painting of a railroad scene.

Same three sub-categories as General, but all entries must be constructed using the skills of knitting, embroidery, needlepoint or rug-hooking.

RULES:

1. To enter Novice class your item cannot have won a First Place or Best of Show in any category at a Northeastern Region Crafts contest since 1984. No item which has won a First Place or Best of Show in a Northeastern Region Crafts Contest may be entered again in the same class.
2. An item that won a First place or Best of Show award from the Novice Class may be entered into the Advanced Class.
3. Anyone can enter their craft items into the Advanced Class.
4. If there are less than three (3) items in a sub-category, that sub-category may be combined with another sub-category in order to make a contest, at the discretion of the committee/judges.
5. If there are not at least three (3) items entered into the Novice or Advanced Class then the committee/judges can omit that class from judging.
6. Ribbons and Certificates will be given for First, Second and Third places in each category if there are enough items entered.
7. Certificates and Best of Show ribbons will be presented at the Awards Ceremony.
8. A crafts contest is not an official part of the model contest of a convention. It is, however, sponsored by the Convention Committee.
