This is a Merchandise Despatch car of the earlier design with end doors. For more information on MD cars, take a look at the MD Car 229 page. According to CERA bulletin 106 this car was rebuilt in 1940 to an ice cutter. After being sold to the Chicago Hardware Foundry in 1963, the car had been stripped and turned into a trailer. However, components from a scrapped car are being re-installed and the car will once again become a two motor car.
