While Jim was growing up In East Orange NJ prior to 1963 he often played along the Erie’s Orange branch, which is long since gone. His family moved to West Orange NJ in 1964, living next to the EL Morristown & Essex branch. This sparked Jim's interest in railroading. He started model railroading with HO-scale in 1972 and progressed to N-scale in 1989.
Jim joined Central Jersey N-Trak in 2000 and, after moving to North Carolina, joined the North Raleigh Model Railroad Club in 2006. Coal hauling railroads of the NE From Pennsylvania to New Jersey — EL,CNJ,LNE,LV, Erie — are the focus of Jim's interest in Model Railroading.
