2009 Hartford National Convention

Progress is underway toward the National Convention in Hartford on July 5-12, 2009.  The contract has been signed by Hartford National 2009, Inc. and returned to the NMRA for execution.  The NMRA has signed contracts with the Connecticut Convention Center and the 350 room Marriott Hotel in downtown Hartford.  Negotiations are underway with additional hotels.  The train show will also be in the 140,000 s. f. convention center.  On Sunday (January 22nd), the first meeting of chairpersons was held.  During a meeting after the train show in West Springfield on January 28th, 2009, NMRA representatives noted that the bus staging area at the convention center is one of the best they have seen.  Target dates for national publicity were discussed at this meeting as well as the need to finalize the budget.
