Remarks:     Originally introduced in New Zealand in 1906 to serve the extensive Manawatu flax swamps, this small saddle tank engine was sold to a sawmill at Piha on Auckland's west coast. At this time it was of 3'0" gauge. The Stores Branch of NZR took over the line in 1914 and altered the wheel gauge to 3'6" in their Newmarket workshops. It served the tramline until 1920 when the timber ran out. It was then handed back to the mill owner and eventually served on a bush tramway near Raetihi, being finally abandoned around 1957.
