Remarks:     This small locomotive was imported in 1875 by the contractors who built the Oamaru breakwater. In May of 1876 it was purchased by the Otago Provincial Railways, and later in that same year, when the provinces were abolished, was taken over by the NZR. Under the 1877 classification system it was designated 'S' and given the number 52. It appears to have been generally known, however, as Robina. For ten years Robina was used for shunting at Oamaru, then sold to the Gisborne Harbour Board, and from there, later had several other owners, but lasted until 1958. Robina did not have a cab, a simple spectacle plate being the only protection for her crew.
