ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The Museum moved from its original location at Trolley Park in Glenwood, Oregon to Brooks Oregon in 1996. The new museum has been expanding ever since. The new museum had to be built from scratch. Since 1996 we have built over a mile of track with overhead wire and yard leads, a carbarn with 4 tracks, a powerhouse and a small depot This is an exciting time for the museum.

The new museum is being built in 3 phases. The museum completed phase one, building the car barn and demonstration trolley line with overhead. The line was operated with energized overtime in July of 1999. Each year the operating line has grown to the nearly 1 mile of track is now in operation.  Work continues on extending the right of way. Details are on the OERM News Page. Regular weekend operations run from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

WAPI & STEAM-UP

Every year during the last weekend in July, first weekend in August, WAPI has the Great Oregon Steam-up. This is a large show that often attracts 10,000 people per weekend. There are tractor pulls, Steam tractor parades, log mill operations, threshing and haying demonstrations, miniature railroad rides, and streetcar rides giving by the Museum.

To learn more about WAPI or the museum contact Mark Kavanagh, he is the OERHS Webmaster and would be happy to help.

For those interested in other streetcar museums throughout the world, and of transit information and railroad items, turn to the Museum's links Page for help.

Stay tuned to this page, for as the museum grows, so will this page!

ALL THE LABOR IS VOLUNTEER!

We need more help, both physical and financial for building the new museum. The society has received many grants and donations over the past years, which has helped tremendously, but as usual, more help is required. Please consider joining and or donating to the OERHS There is a Membership/Donation form On-Line. Please print it out and send it in!

Are you interested in working on streetcars or building a right of way? Then you have come to the right place. Come join our track crews or restoration artists. Work parties are at Brooks nearly every Saturday rain or shine (in Oregon that means rain) from about 10:00am to dusk. For more information on this contact Greg Bonn, Museum Director. He would be delighted to hear from you.

The location of the museum is Brooks, Oregon. This is just west of the I-5 freeway exit for Brooks. Click here for directions. It is located on the grounds of the Western Antique Powerland Museum. For further info on WAPI and it other member museums follow the link to WAPI
