Blackpool Double Deck Tram #48 is moving from the Willamette Shore Trolley to the Museum on Saturday 5/6. A Benefit Ride will leave from Lake Oswego at 7am that morning. See Press Release for details

The museum is now a proud owner of on small diesel locomotive and an open passenger car. Both were donated by Dick Samuels. This equipment last ran on SAMTRAK. SAMTRAK was a tourist line that operated on the former Portland Traction line between OMSI and Oaks Park. This opens up the opportunity to operate where are wires don't reach for our trolleys. 

The OERHS has been offered an authentic Single-Truck Brill Streetcar from Oporto Portugal. The car is of an original Brill design with a Brill-21-E Truck. It was reconstructed in 1940 with longer platforms. The car remained in service until 1994. It has remained in covered storage since that time. It is considered in good condition and able to run.

The only catch is we must pay for transportation costs from Portugal to the US, then onto Oregon. This is not a cheap task. We are looking for donations to help bring this car to our museum. It would quickly become part of our operating fleet.

The next major project for the museum it to build our Interpretive Center. This will house museum displays, gift shop and ticket office. The location is near where the current temporary ticket office is (car #911). The depot will be a modified SP standard design #22. The photo to the left is an SP #22 Depot located in Pleasanton, CA. 

The ticket office/gift shop will be in the ground floor. The upstairs will house a library and living quarters for staff. The "Freight House" will be home to museum displays. The cost for materials alone will be around $100,000. The Society is planning on purchasing the materials and use volunteers to build the building as much as possible.

The Society is making applications to various foundations for grants. However, Foundations look for support of members and the community before funding large projects. Therefore we are looking for help in raising money. The Board of Directors is looking into various fundraising activities. Of course the best is straight donations. Please consider donating money to this cause. Your donations are considered tax deductible as applicable to IRS regulations.

The society has made it even easier to pay for your membership dues, or donate to various projects we have on the horizon. You may now pay for these items on-line using PayPal.

PayPal in an on-line payment service. It is owned by the world renowned Auction Website eBay. Your payments are secure. You may pay for items from your checking account, or via VISA or MasterCard. The Society does get charged for credit card transactions, so a small handling fee is charged for Active and Family memberships.

It is hoped that this will encourage more membership, and financial help to preserve our collection and expand our museum.
