Seattle Trolley Bus
#648 |
Built
in 1944 by Pullman
This
is a new addition to our roster. It arrived at the museum September of
2000. It is a cousin to our other Seattle trolley bus # 604, except that
it is younger by a different builder and slightly longer. The photo to
the left shows the two coaches side by side.
This
is a close-up view of the front of the coach to the right. As you can
see the bus is in tact. There is some rust and such, but it is about 90%
complete. The interior is missing some of the seat handles.
The
rear of the bus to the left demonstrates the twin trolley poles for
current collection. The bus is in need of a lot of electrical work
before it may run again. Apparently when the bus was retired, a good
portion of the wiring was cut, and what is not cut has worn insulation.
But will a little effort, this bus could run again.
