Parkdale yard expansion 1926

Looking west from Strachan Avenue, Galt Subdivision double track main line in foreground.
CNR at far right. Prison buildings in background. Note freight train on wrong main apparently setting off or lifting.

Lidgerwood is unloading ballast from gons on track two. Tracks 1 to 8 off first lead. Next, is track 9 with 10-15 running off it.
Capacity of yard was 294 cars.

Finished early October 1926, with some freight cars in it already.

Looking east. Switch in foreground is for track 10 with 11 to 15 in distance.

Note: At a later unknown date (after 1935) this lead was changed to include only 9-12 with 13-15 extended farther west (behind camera), a shorter track 16 was also added for weighers with the scale house built onto the north side of the new yard office built to replace the original wooden one which burned one day. Water track was out of view to the right behind the camera. A standpipe was fed by a steel water tank nearby.
