Toronto Wholesale Fruit Market

Pretty busy place! Circa 1940. Two views Chuckman's Photos

Fruit market is the yellow structure north of tracks between Yonge and Scott Streets. 1910

Northeast corner of Yonge Street and the Esplanade East.
It was once the Great Western station.

A major fire May 17, 1952 destroyed the train shed although the station portion itself appears alright.
Although the Ontario Food Terminal replaced this facility it should be noted the Esplanade served as a team tracks
area for years to come where fruits and vegetables were unloaded from refrigerator cars and trucked away.
The site later became the location of the O'Keefe Centre for the Performing Arts. Opening October 1, 1960.
