Old Time Trains

Typical finished station platform. Different colour tiles and bold lettering quickly provided easy station recognition at a glance. It was a modern appearance, easy to keep clean. Decades later this appearance with its plain tiles was criticized as giving an appearance some declared to be like that of a public toilet! See below.
