MLW S-13 (251 engine) 1000 hp

There were two versions of this Canadian-only model on CNR.

8500-8522 (23 units) DL411 731 t.m. 75:16 gearing 117 tons

8600-8625 (26 units) DL411A 752 t.m. 74:18 gearing 13 tons
Built new with m.u. and hump controls.

Bathurst Street

CN 8517 and 8518 (below) two identical MLW S-13 yard switchers in the former CN Spadina Coach Yard in Toronto.
These units were the last MLW (Alco) model switcher in Canada. September 1978. Randy Kotuby

 

 


8623 smoking it up like a typical Alco! These 123 ton hump units worked in a three unit set with a slug in between.
