Labrador Iron Mines owns James Mine near Schefferville and operates trains over a 3 1/2 mile long spur connecting to Tshiuetin Rail Transportation over 134 miles of former QNS&L between Schefferville, Quebec and Emeril Junction, Labrador then QNS&L to Sept-Iles. The first ore train to leave Schefferville area in almost 30 years departed June 29, 2011. Production is expected to reach 15,000 tonnes per day.

Bloom Lake Consolidated Thompson. New 19 mile (31 km) line from the mine to Emeril Jct.built in just eight winter months!
Began loading Saturday, May 1, 2010 operating with two 82 car train sets of eventual 740 new hopper cars built by National Steel Car, Hamilton and building to 240 car trains as more cars were received 26 cars at a time via ferry from Matane. When in full production, the Bloom Lake Mine is expected to produce eight million tonnes a year.
