Mississippian Railway

A small (25 mile) independent shortline dating from 1923 known for its use of steam locomotives exclusively long after most steam had ended. Two small identical 2-8-0's were used one at a time and each was assigned to one engineer. Both engineers were brothers and the opposite brother was conductor. Both engines were preserved after retirement in 1968.

Built December 1920 by Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Johnsboro, Lake City & Eastern numbered 40 and 41.
Became St. Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) 76 and 77. After retirement North Alabama Railroad Club.
Magnolia State Railroad Museum. Central Western 9 (1989-1990) operated 77 for excursion in Alberta.
Presently operated by Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions on the former Central Western.
