Great Western Railway Company

The Great Western Railway Company (GWR) had its origins in the London & Gore Railway which was created in 1843 and ultimately the GWR in 1853. The company was amalgamated with the Grand Trunk Railway in 1882. Below are links to the individual histories of railway lines that were either created by or ultimately came under the control of the Great Western Railway that were constructed within the Province of Ontario.

1. Original Mainline (Niagara Falls through Hamilton and London to Windsor)
2. Galt & Guelph Railway (Galt to Guelph)
3. Hamilton & Toronto Railway (Hamilton to Toronto)
4. London & Port Sarnia Railway (Komoka to Sarnia)
5. Canada Air Line (Glencoe to Fort Erie)

London, Huron & Bruce Railway (London to Wingham)

Wellington, Grey & Bruce Railway (Guelph to Southampton and Kincardine)
