The Ottaway 4-4-0
Historical Data:
Spotting Features:
The vast majority of Ottaways are trim, well proportioned, straight boilered
4-4-0 live steam locomotives. They are difficult to distinguish from homebuilt
and one-off locomotives at first glance because they are based on a very
common and popular type of prototype locomotive. Some spotting features include
the sheet-metal cab with a high, arched roof and plenty of rivet detail;
a fat, straight boiler with a short stack; and a small "tin can" style headlight.
All Ottaway products were built to 12" guage.
