Gone but not forgotten, Colorado Railcar's Aero D.M.U. prototype, CRMX 2002, for a time was used in a joint Florida DOT and Federal Railroad Administration D.M.U. project. Although the prototype eventually was purposefully destroyed at the USDOT's railroad test tracks at Pueblo, Co., as a result of collision protection tests, the car led to four bi-level d.m.u. cars and two bi-level trailers being built for Tri-Rail.
