Portraits of North American Railroads
Welcome to my site!
Please take the time to browse through my selection
of photographs that I have taken over the course of the past 15
years. I have lived in several areas around the country and it
has given me the opportunity to photograph many railroads in many
different locations. I have grouped my photographs by geographical
areas, which are easily accessible through the links below. As
you will see, I try to take photographs that emphasize the effects
of lighting, resulting in many shots that have a sense of depth
and atmosphere. In my opinion, lighting is more than having the
whole train bathed in sunlight, an attitude that is reflected
in the work of one of my favorite rail photographers, Richard
Steinheimer. Although the colors of some of these shots are not
completely true to the originals due to my slide scanner, I certainly
hope that you enjoy my work and if you like any of the shots on
this site, I would be glad to hear from you.
