Pittsburgh Garden Railway Society
General Information |
The Pittsburgh Garden Railway Society is a family-oriented group of people dedicated
since 1994 to enjoying the hobby of garden railroading and sharing our ideas and expertise
with others. Membership is open to all who have an interest in the idea of model railroading
outdoors. You don't have to own a model train in order to join; every skill level is
welcome. We welcome guests. Please email us for information.
Our community outreach activities include:
- a permanent train display at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh
- display setups at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show and model train shows
- visits to schools to discuss our trains
Our monthly meetings are held all over the western Pennsylvania area. We hold as many meetings
as possible at member homes. At our meetings we have programs on such diverse topics as
gardening, water gardening, planning garden railroads, building structures, powering the
trains, and keeping critters at bay. Check our
calendar
for locations and program topics.
In addition to our monthly meetings, PGRS members enjoy the following:
- Participation in PGRS community outreach programs
- Tours of member garden railways
- Access to our lending library of books and videos
- Access to our collection of tools, rolling stock, and other equipment
- Occasional train trips in the tri-state area
