Railfan Pictures of the Day - 01/26/2007

SEPTA Dale Interlocking Lansdale PA January 16 2007

Part Seven of an ongoing series. Part One is here, Part Two is here, Part Three is here, Part Four is here, Part Five is here, Part Six is here.

The area to the south of the freight station has been cleared out, exposing the stone pillars that once supported the wooden dock that now only remains from the station north.
No, they don't work for NJT, they just like the vests.
The midday trains to Doylestown fluctuate from five car trains to this basically single car train, actually a semi-permanently attached married pair which is treated by the FRA as a single unit. Although both have traction motors (one per axle), only the odd numbered units have the pantograph, and equipment like the air compressor, batteries or cab signal equipment can be found on either of the cars but shared by both. (Thanks Frank Lancaster and Richard Werner)
The track department continued its work on the new switches.
The new switches between Main and Broad Streets will allow a train to go from Track 1 (aka the station track, adjacent to the watchbox to the right) to the runner (on which the Silverliner train is parked) to the industrial track (on which the track workers are standing). The switch from Track 1 to the runner is pictured, and the complete track section, with both switches, will be assembled shortly and, sometime in the spring, the current track will be cut out and the new track cut in.
