Amtrak North Philadelphia Station Philadelphia PA May, June and July 1995

Back in 1995, Amtrak was downsizing the station platforms at North Philadelphia. Here a double-headed long distance train rolls by the work in progress. Rail has been dropped in anticipation of the arrival of the concrete tie laying machine that will replace the wooden ties on the express tracks Track 2 and Track 3. But it is May and they are not here yet.
In June, a view south of what was left and was being rebuilt from the westbound platform.
A view south from the eastbound platform with North Philadelphia Tower in the background.
It is now July and MOW forces have reached the station as observed by the orange equipment in front of North Philly Tower. Here a SEPTA R8 Chestnut Hill West train of Silverliner II's makes a station stop at its adjacent platform, really little more than asphalt and curbs.
