Railfan Pictures of the Day - 02/28/2007

SEPTA Main Line Lansdale PA February 24 2007

A SEPTA track department rail train made an early morning run to Lansdale PA to drop off more rail for the Dale Interlocking project. Extra 51 blazes the way through the frozen darkness.
Behind 51 and the five flat cars, what looks like one of the small spaceships from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is actually the Petti-Bone getting on the rails at Broad Street. It would be used to pull the rails off the flats and place them where they will be needed: just south of Broad Street, just north of Broad Street and a pair along side the Stony Creek Branch.
The first flat was painted blue, a new image for track equipment flats, and pretty sharp looking.
Three of the flats are in the usual MOW gray.
The trailing flat was orange, although it is hard to tell as sodium vapor street lamps tend to make everything white or gray look orange at night.
