CSX Trenton Line Woodbourne Yard Langhorne PA April 5 2007
CSX L417's departure from Selkirk Yard near Albany NY has been changed due to track work on the River Line, and it has been arriving at West Trenton just in time for SEPTA's evening rush hour. It pulled through Woodbourne Station around 16:00, which means it was an inopportune time to pull a knuckle as the train was preparing to set off a number of cars at Woodbourne Yard. The rear of the train had not cleared Wood Interlocking or the grade crossing at Woodbourne Road, making for a mess for both train and vehicular traffic. Westbound SEPTA trains out of West Trenton were cancelled, and eastbound trains were turned at Woodbourne Station until the repairs were made and the train was able to clear the interlocking about 17:00.
The delay afforded the opportunity to get shots of a rather large shipment (27 cars) of large pipe that is presumed to be for export by boat out of the Port of Morrisville.
All the cars were PTTX cars, some however were converted from XTTX cars and still had those markings on the sideframes of the trucks, like PTTX 137257.
The other two types of cars appeared to be converted from trailer service and apparently had a lower load capacity, as the former XTTX cars carried up to 22 pieces and the others only 18. Here is PTTX 252179 in the middle of a spring snow squall.
