SEPTA/NS/CSX Stony Creek Branch PA Norristown PA April 12 2007
Part Four of a series. Part One is here, Part Two is here, Part Three is here.
CSX C746 derailed in Norristown PA on its way to Lansdale PA.
After the first three cars were rerailed, they moved the sidewinder in to the last car.
After some discussion, it was decided that they would not need the sidewinder, and used a backhoe instead.
After measuring the gauge of the track ....
another backhoe went to work ripping up the crossing so the track could be regauged.
Meanwhile, the sidewinder on the right had a counterweight added as it would be used to lift the fully loaded cars so that the side frames on the trucks could be hammered back into place.
Both sidewinders were brought back up to the derailment site.
