Railfan Pictures of the Day - 08/13/2008

CSX Trenton Line Bellevue Avenue Langhorne PA July 22 and 29 2008

Once cut, the old rail was removed to just east of the crossing.
Afterwards the ties and hardware would be removed and the new track panel installed.
As evening approached, they were just finishing up, with the front end loader dumping ballast, followed by the ballast regulator and the tamper getting their turns.
By 17:00 SEPTA had resumed normal operations for the evening rush, once again using Track 2 for outbound trains.
A 10 MPH speed restriction was put into effect for the first two trains to cross the new rail, and Q706 with CSX 8041 became the first to cross.
Light move X086 was the next train, so lifting the speed restriction would have to wait until the next tonnage train, which came not long after.
One week later and everything is back to normal.
