Lehigh Valley Transit Norristown PA

The Lansdale Historical Society presentation "All Hail the Trolley", a look back at the area trolleys in the first half of the Twentieth Century, should be available on DVD before Christmas 2008. Check the LHS website for details.

The North Penn Reporter has a video clip featuring local historian Andy Maginnis, presenter of "All Hail the Trolley", along with maps of the Philadelphia to Allentown route and trolley lines in Lansdale.

More shots of the LVT from about 1949 to 1951. A Liberty Bell Limited "Red Devil" pulls into Rink Siding in Norristown. Rink was also the location of the freight station in town. The dome of the county seat can be seen in the distance and will pop up again.
LVT 1030 pulling out of Rink Siding.
A three car train, probably the April 15 1951 excursion, climbs up the ramp to the elevated station shared with the Philadelphia and Western in Norristown. The building housing the county seat is in the background with the dome just out of sight.
There's that dome again, this time much closer as a three car train, once again probably the April 15 1951 excursion, stops at the end of the line, at least for the LVT.
