SEPTA Doylestown Branch Hatfield and New Britain PA September 20 2010

Part One is here, Part Two is here.

One of the trickiest tasks on an electrified railroad is getting around all the wires, as shown here as workers lower a rebar reinforcing column into a hole that will shortly be filled with concrete for use as a base for a new catenary pole.
SEPTA had some big cranes out working on the new siding at Link Belt on Monday. While most of the cranes SEPTA uses are rentals, this one, on catenary support duty, is their own.
To lift the new bridge sections, a rental was brought in.
From the road, could not see the base of the unit, but looking at the arm, it was a big one. It was used to place the three pre-fabricated concrete bridge sections on the foundation sections.
Meanwhile, down at Link Belt, the track department was assembling track panels for the new switch that will be installed just east of County Line Road, about where the train is pictured.
