Railfan Pictures of the Week - 02/27/2005

CSX Trenton Line and Bucks County Industrial Park Langhorne PA February 18 2005

To follow up the my favorite local theme from last week, my other favorite local is operates not far from where I work. Under Conrail it was called WPMO-1 and operated out of Morrisville PA, but Morrisville is now NS and Conrail Shared Assets, so most people refer to this as the Woodbourne job. CSX 770 is the daylight portion and C764 its nighttime counterpart. C770's usual range is the CSX Trenton Line from Trenton NJ to Bustleton in Philadelphia PA, with an occasional run down to Greenwich Yard in South Philadelphia. The dispatching south of Fairless Junction is handled by CSX NI dispatcher, but when it has to venture north it is handled by SEPTA Desk 2, and shares the rails with SEPTA R3 West Trenton commuter trains as well as CSX freights. Previous pages with C770 here, here, here, and here.

Power is usually GP38-2's or GP40-2's, with B23-7's, B23-7R's, SW1001's and mother-slug sets pinch-hitting at times. Lately GP40-2 6042 has been paired with B23-7R 3187, so it was quite a surprise to see that 3187 had been replaced, if only temporarily.

CSX C770 passing the BCIP switch off SEPTA's Track 1, across from CP Fairless Jct.

On the rear of C770 was whiteface NS GP38-2 5312, its paint so new it was gleaming in the sun.
After swapping out some covered hoppers at Silgan Plastics, C770 pulls south toward the switch that leads to the industrial siding to Weyerhaeuser's Fine Paper Forms Converting Plant.
While CSX 6042 worked Weyerhaeuser across Wheeler Way .......
NS 5312 waited on the siding, pictured here as Q172 passes on the Trenton Line to the left.
Due to the SEPTA wire train working Track 2 between Neshaminy and Woodbourne, C770 had to wait for a northbound MU to clear before heading north. Now with NS 5312 leading, it passes through SEPTA Woodbourne Station on Track 1, heading for CP Wood, where it will reverse back across Track 2 onto the CSX Trenton Line (called the Single Track) and into Woodbourne Yard.
C770 passes the old Woodbourne passenger platforms north of the station .....
.... and leaves the single track at the north yard switch to enter the yard. After working the yard, C770 would continue south on the Trenton Line to service the Nabisco siding near Bustleton in Northeast Philadelphia.
