Railfan Pictures of the Week - 12/25/2005

CSX Trenton Line Langhorne and Philadelphia PA December 14 and 16 2005

Foreign power has replaced many of the leased units on the Trenton Line recently. Q300 had BNSF 8721 and UP 4433 here on the main at CP Berry as it passes a very short K207 (two engines and three cars) stopped at the signal. BNSF 8721 is a GP60 phase IIb that was purchased by Santa Fe as 4021 back in July 1989. UP 4433 is one of the non-flared but winged SD70M's. Photography on this section of the Trenton Line at this time of year is difficult at best, especially in the early half of the day.

Two days later and farther north at Dobry Road, the light is much better for Q409 with CSX ES44DC 5251 and CN C44-9WL 2604.
Later that day Q417 came down with BNSF 889 leading, here at CP Wood.
Q417 works at Woodbourne Yard and the light was cooperative as they shoved back against their train from Fairless Junction after setting off a cut of cars in the yard.
Lest we for get this is a CSX train, the second unit on Q417 was CSX B40-8 5937.
BNSF SD40-2 7062 was the third engine on the train, and also the third different BNSF paint scheme in three days. BNSF 7062 has probably worn its BN Green paint since it was first acquired by Burlington Northern in 1978.
This time of year, the sun can be murder for the crews on the Trenton Line as well.
