40th Street Portal West Philadelphia PA
Look out David Horwitz's back door, and you will see one of the busiest spots in the Philadelphia area: the subway-surface portal at 40th Street. Here are a number of shots taken by David around the general area over the years.
In 1973, PCC's pile up as they come out of the tunnel.
Only the brave wander out in weather like this, a snowstorm in 1979.
In 1983, a swarm of work trucks descend on the area for a major conversion.
Also in 1983, this time at ground level, the Kawasaki's try to recreate the PCC shot from 1973.
The tracks appear to go in all directions, another shot from 1983.
