SEPTA Frankford Transportation Center Philadelphia PA March 4 2007

SEPTA celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first run of the Market Elevated Line on March 4 1907 with free rides for all on the Market-Frankford El from 12:00 to 5:00. For the start of a trip the length of the line (about 40 minutes), either end of the line will do, like the relatively new Frankford Transportation Center that replaced the old Bridge-Pratt terminal back in 2003.
With the completion of the new parking garage to the north, new vantage points are available of the train shed and its comings and goings.
The platform is glass and metal, but rest of the station is old-fashioned brick and mortar.
Of course, being a Sunday, most of the fleet slept in for the occasion.
