Railfan Pictures of the Week - 10/18/2009

SEPTA Neshaminy Line Jenkintown Layoff Track Jenkintown PA October 18 2009

Montgomery County was hit with a simulated Category 5 hurricane today, and among the "disasters" was a train versus car incident staged at Jenkintown Station. SEPTA, local municipalities and a number of local fire companies and emergency medical service personnel responsed to the simulated calamity this morning.

Silverliner IV married pair 167 and 168 were filled with passengers in various conditions.

The vehicle and its occupants were trapped under downed wires, which shouldn't have been a problem due to widespread "power outages", but part of the drill is not to assume anything, so normal precautions regarding live wires were taken.
The train was being pulled by SW1200 52, whose crew were among the casualties.
There was also a small diesel fuel fire, as simulated alongside flat car SPAX 2108.
