|CSX Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA October 14 2010
|With the Stony Creek Branch taken out of service earlier last week, the only way in and out of Lansdale for CSX is via the SEPTA Main and Neshaminy Lines, which is also the only way to get six axle power in and out of Lansdale anyway (that is until the Blue Line Connection is restored). On CSX C746's trip back from Woodbourne Yard last Thursday, they brought with them four former Conrail C39-8's that had been sitting in Abrams and Morrisville Yards for over two months. Built for Conrail by GE back in 1986, they went to NS in the split and were retired in 2005 before being acquired by NSSX earlier this year. Interestingly, all the units received ditch lights on the front pilots but none on the rear. Three of the units are destined for service on the Greenbrier Express. NSSX C39-8 8211 (former NS 8211 and CR 6017) had already made the trip back in August.
|NSSX 8211 and two of the four brought up last week will be mechanically refurbished by the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad and later shipped to a facility in Pottstown for cosmetic work. They are NSSX C39-8 8207 (former NS 8207 and CR 6012) ...
|and NSSX C39-8 8202 (former NS 8202 and CR 6004).
|The other two units will reportedly be kept by New Hope and Ivyland Railroad and refurbished, possibly for use on the Lansdale Cluster they will soon acquire. They are NSSX C39-8 8208 (former NS 8208 and CR 6014) ...
|and NSSX C39-8 8212 (former NS 8212 and CR 6021). All four units were taken to Ivyland for interchange on the next night's C746 run to Warminster.
