SEPTA Norristown Branch Wissahickon Station Philadelphia PA January 25 2012

SEPTA has been replacing the wire on the Norristown Branch for several months now, and after finishing work on Track 2, have been concentrating on Track 1 in anticipation of completing the job early this spring. In order to make that deadline, they have on occasion sent out a second wire train to expedite the progress. Here wire train # 1 pauses at Wissahickon Station.
Wire Train # 1, here just north of Dawson Street, featured RL1A SPAX 61 and cab car SPAX 601 ...
while just behind it was Wire Train # 2 with RL1A SPAX 60 and cab car SPAX 610.
They work the branch from about 10:00 to 2:30 each day ...
before returning to Wayne Electric around 3:00 each afternoon. Note the heavy duty PECO overbuild that runs along the line.
