Railfan Pictures of the Week - 05/20/2012

SEPTA Doylestown and Main Line Lansdale PA May 18 2012

Less than two weeks after the chapter's "Farewell to the Faithful Silverliners" charter, and there are reported to be fewer than a dozen II's and III's left in service. Predominant among the survivors seem to be the ex-Reading Silverliner II's (Class REB-13). Here a pair lead train 521 across Walnut Street on the Doylestown Line, passing the only regular freight customer left on the line, Lansdale Warehouse.

On the hind end was ex-Pennsylvania Class MP85 266, the current camera car. Reports are that with its retirement, the equipment will be transferred to a Silverliner IV single unit.
SPAX 9006 leads SPAX 9009 and SPAX 266 down the main, heading to Thorndale.
The good thing about many of the Lansdale/Doylestown trains is that they usually turn at Malvern/Thorndale and come back in the afternoon, as this set did on Train 551.
With numbers dwindling, each sighting could be the last.
