NS Harrisburg Line Swedeland and Bridgeport PA June 22 2012
A new job means a return to an old haunt, although under new management. Twenty years ago when I worked in Conshohocken, Conrail owned the Harrisburg Line and ran ore trains, coal trains, intermodals, auto racks, mixed manifests, you name it. Throw in run through power from CSX/RF&P/SBD/FL/Chessie/B&O/C&O and the occasional Delaware and Hudson run with CP, St.L&H, D&H, NYSW and NS engines, and you had a good view of northeastern railroading. Flash forward to 2012 and for the most part you can see trains in any color you want, as long as you want black. The new Heritage units will come as a welcome break to the monochrome horde.
NS D9-40C 8838 sporting a horse head paint scheme leads 38G through the signal at Swedeland.
What is left of yard track that once served the mighty Lukens Steel barely pokes out of the ballast.
The tail end of 38G passes the head end of 39G, who due to a problem with a switch at Norris was waiting for the eastbound to clear before proceeding to Abrams Yard to start their work. The track to the right is the interchange with the Upper Merion and Plymouth Railroad in West Conshohocken.

Cryo-Trans is one of the few private car owners that gives individual names to the cars in its fleet, here at Bridgeport is CRYX 3302 with the name MALAKI on its plug door.
CRYX 3025, aka BIG ROARING RIVER, was paired up with MALAKI. Note to shop forces: please return doors to their original car (or for variety and a more interesting shot, don't).
