Railfan Pictures of the Week - 4/13/2014

NS Harrisburg Line Bridgeport PA February 19 2014

Today the symbol for the local down to Swedeland is K04 (have heard them called H82, HM61 and HM21 among others).
Leading is NS GP38-2 5121, one of several high-hood ex-Southern units that can be found operating out of Abrams.
Trailing unit was GP40-2 3038, a local boy, the former CR 3347, which has been working out of Abrams for years (here on H25 back in 2010).
Since the Inquirer stopped receiving paper by rail (a fan favorite as it was usually shipped in ex-PRR X58 box cars), the lion's share of the traffic has been gondolas for the AcelorMital steel plant serviced by the Upper Merion and Plymouth, and this day is no different.
Most of the cars could be considered in "captive service": BVRY and UMP cars that shuttle back and forth between the West Conshohocken plant and the one in Coatesville serviced by H84. The flat steel finished product is usually shipped out on TTX, UMP and BVRY flat cars.
