William's Station Day 2001

PMRC had a very busy time in the last days of October 2001 with The Pensacola Interstate Fair and William's Station Day, but everyone enjoyed running trains and meeting all the model railroad fans who stopped by to visit.  We set up the club's 12'x16' layout in Atmore for this annual event and ran everything from early steam to ultra modern bullet trains along with a crowd pleasing 89 car coal train pulled by three Kato diesel locomotives.

William's Station Day was the first opportunity that we have had to set up a full layout consisting of all the club member's operating modules.  We have a few more in the works to soon put us over the 20' mark.  Here are a few shots of the 12'x16' that we ran in Atmore. We found that leaving the skyboards off of Kevin Carney's yard modules made for easy staging.

Outside at the festival, the Stars and Stripes were flown high atop a ladder truck. This young fellow, like many others, enjoyed counting the coal cars as they passed by. Young engineers were everywhere at William's Station Day. This little guy was determined to get a close up look at  a passing train.

There was a slight lean toward UP flags flying on Kevin Carney's yard modules. Glen Hall's Great Northern Steamer crosses Coaltown on the mountain line. Here is an overhead shot of the layout from the stage. Bill King claims that he is a railroader, but here he is caught with his true love...ROMANCE NOVELS!

Glen's Great Northern weaving it's way through Kerry Muir's Rocky Points USA module. Three EMD units pull their 89 car coal consist across Payne Lake Reservoir. A view of Tuckertown and Rocky Points USA. Bobby Payne became tired of his undecorated "staging module", so he threw out a few pieces of a future planned overhead train station.

Club member Terry Tucker was on hand to supply the needs of modelers. Dan Curry organized the train portion of William's Station, and also set up his HO layout. Bill Blinn and Tom Haugh were present with their DCC operated N-Trak layout.  They are also members of the Miracle Strip Model Railroad Club.
