Three stabbed aboard Amtrak train

OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio (AP) -- A man with an 8-inch knife stabbed two conductors and a passanger on an Amtrak train outside of Cleveland on Thursday and was pulled from a crowd and arrested after a rider pointed him out, police said.

One man was in critical condition with a head wound, and another was in serious condition.

Police said they had no motive. The suspect, before a court appearance, shouted to reporters that he acted in self-defense when a train porter pulled a gun on him.

Passengers on the Lake Shore Limited run from Chicago to New York where jolted awake about 3:20 a.m. as the suspect and the victims ran through the train, leaving a bloody train through seven cars. The train carried 376 passangers and 12 crew members.

Aaron Hall, 41, of Ontario, Calif., was arrested when a passanger in a crowd leaving the stopped train told police, "That's him. That's him."
