We held a work session at Paul Wachowicz’ home to prep the 4x8 layout for the TTOS show. Don Webster, John Ondesko, Chris Kroll and Gregg Mummert attended.

We cleaned, painted, and tested the layout. We also reversed the accessory track on the one siding to better accommodate the operating cars. And, we tested the extension cable Gregg completed for the control panel.

Chris showed us the new WNYSSA website that he is building. Watch for this “cool” updated website in the near future at http:/trainweb.org/WNYSSA.

Gregg brought the latest issue of Classic Toy Trains for perusing. It featured an article about Tom Robichaud’s “S” layout in MA. Don and Gregg saw this layout at the NASG convention in ’08. And, Tom converted the Galloping Goose to “S” that Paul and Gregg have operated at several shows. The latest “L” catalog was also available.

“L” had the new AF Big Boy operating on their display layout at York. The layout has two circles of Flyer track at each end of the layout built into the mountains. It was hard to get a good look at the Big Boy as it came out of the mountain and disappeared again, but it did look nice at a “glance.” It was obvious “L” did not anticipate operating an engine this big on these loops since the engine scraped the tunnel portals. Gregg picked up an LTI/AF 915 Auto Unloading car at York for the club to operate on one of the sidings of the 4x8 layout.

We set up the 4x8 layout at the TTOS show at the Leonard Post on October 25th. Don brought his Buffalo Firehouse and lighted firetruck. Chris ran his LTI/AF docksider and a boxcar with custom “graffiti.” Gregg ran his AM D&H RS3 with SHS cars and some recently completed beer reefers. The Arcade & Attica 44 tonner shell was picked up at the show and the engine was displayed on one of the sidings. Gregg is working on fitting couplers to the chassis and hopefully it will be ready for the GSME show. We could have used more buildings, etc. on the layout. We received a donation from TTOS for displaying our layout.

We are setting up our modules at the GSME show in Batavia on November 15th. Lew Cabella and Roger Huff are bringing their straight sections and RASG is bringing their corners and straights. Please plan to attend and help with this display. We need help setting up at 7:30-ish, tearing down at 3:30-ish, and running trains during the show (9:30 to 3:30). Note that RASG will run the inner main again and we will run the outer main, so plan accordingly when deciding how many trains to bring.

As always, we need volunteers and/or ideas for future meetings.
