The following list is a rough guide to which plates were cast in brass and which were iron, and should eventually become a useful resource for railwayana collectors, modellers, and historians.

NOTES

(1) 7928 c/i exists, poss. duplicate or replacement.
Both sided 7926 are brass. Poss. last 2 or 3 of class c/i.
(2) Believed all destroyed.
(3) All old tanks e.g. 19xx believed brass.
(4) 0-6-0 2251 class.
(5) Dean goods.
(6) 0-6-0T.
(7) Those converted to oil burning received a c/i
plate when reconverted to coal and numbered back to 28xx.
(8) 3000-3099: Singles brass, R.O.D. c/i.
(10) Brass 4153 sold SRA 3/2002.
(11)Some of 5100-5149 may be brass. Does anyone know of a brass one?
(13)Material not known.
(14)Change at about 7420. 7417 is c/i. 7425 is brass.
(15)Numbers below 1000 very mixed.
316 brass dates from 6/50, was 440 from 1922-1950. NO "GWR" cast on front. SRA 8/92.
(16)Mixed due to some becoming RODs. Possibly:
5300-5318 brass
5331-5378 brass
5379-5399 c/i
(17)Dukedog.
(18)Callanish 11/95 cat.
