Built at Swindon in 1935 as number 4847, one of the 70 locomotives in the 0-4-2T 4800 class. Became 1447 under the 1946 GWR renumbering scheme. Withdrawn in 1964. One of the class (number 1401) reached stardom in the film "The Titfield Thunderbolt", made by Ealing Studios in 1952.

Smokebox number plates were fitted to GWR engines after 1948, following nationalisation of the main British railway companies.

Cast iron, welded in service.
