STRAWBERRY DAYS PARADE
The theme for the annual Strawberry Days Parade, on June 19, 2004 in Glenwood Springs, is All Aboard. The theme was chosen because the Glenwood Springs Railroad Depot will be 100 years old this summer and the railroad provides a link with the great folks from around the country who come to the Spa in the Mountains. The basic plan is to decorate Dick Maddocks trailer with skirting and install temporary 7 1/2" track on the bed and set his D&RGW 713 with a few other cars. This plan is similar to the float we used to win first place in the Silt Hey Days Parade. We also decided to enlist the help of the Roaring Fork Valley Model Railroad Club Auxillary, better known as the club members wives with the decorations. Some of the ideas that were thrown out was, railroad songs coming from a boombox, giant strawberrys in one of the gondolas, and operating Dicks D&RGW 713 on rollers. So bring your ideas to a club meeting and lets see if we can win the grand prize.
WE WON SECOND PLACE !!!!!
