Later on, another locomotive set arrives to do work in the yard.
I had to cut my visit to this event short due to hosting a family
dinner at my house. Before I left, I did drive around for a few
minutes to check out the locomotive faciltiy on the east end of the
grounds.
Above is the fueling and sanding area. Is that a wash rack to the
left of the yellow tanks? One the other side of the
vehicular overpass is the engine facility.
The Colton Yard did a great job
planning and executing their UP Family
Day. The effort was obvious with the staging of the equipment and
vehicles which were brought in for the event. I had heard for
several years that they were going to do a Family Day. Hopefully
they will make this an annual event like most other smaller but equally
important facilities do.
