Approaching the next small town of Wenden, it too is agricultural in nature.  Our entourage was there in force.

On this hot day, the wind was kicking up a dust devil.  Elsewhere, a drilling rig was in place for some work.

The Royal Gorge car was never too crowded.  The light wood in the interior and comfortable seats makes this car one of my favorites.  The owner, Wayne Yetter, is a lot of fun too.  This car has been a stable on the Reno Fun Train which runs from Emeryville, CA to Reno, NV during the spring.  I spotted the cookies in the Overland Trail and had to have one.  Just one.

Meanwhile, back in the open door baggage car, Jim and Robert were busy enjoying the passing scenery.

We were getting close to Matthie (Wickenburg AZ), the end of the A & C and junction with the BNSF, though the A & C has trackage rights to Phoenix.  After inspecting the map, Phoenix was only about 60 miles or less from here.
